THE CREATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC ART FESTIVAL
Last year, during one of our weekly meetings we wanted to discuss how to take our brand to the next level. We knew we love(d) people, we love(d) art and of course, we love(d) beer. We wanted to give back, to join the responsible marketing wave and be a brand that does more than 'simply' sell beer. We wanted people to associate with us on a human and more intimate level and let's be honest, there is no feeling like helping people. L7 invested in and is now a co-founder of the association, that has now partnered with the International Public Art festival (IPAF).
This event was Baz-Art's first initiative to launch our program. 45 street artists, both local and international joined skills and passion for art to bring about amazing murals all over Salt River after we received the City Council's approval. The murals are still there and guided tours with local tour guides from the neighborhood are now available to get a curated experience of the artworks and galleries in the neighborhood. With the help of other partners, we built Baz-Art , a non-profit organization with the aim of nurturing community building, as well as promoting social transformation and cohesion through art.
This year, we are launching the second edition of IPAF, from the 10th-19th February 2018, in the community of Salt River. The festival is just one part of BAZ-ART’s mission to use art as a fun outlet for social change, one community at a time- we want to harness the power of art for social change.

The artists we are partnering with are incredible and talented individuals who are always willing to offer a helping hand. They are on the drivers seat for a good cause, with a passion and need to share the love of street art while creating opportunities in these beautiful, authentic communities like Salt River. Our dream is to see our artists grow and represent South Africa all around the world, we want to provide an outlet for them to continue doing what they love. At L7, we love and cherish these amazing artists, and we will forever respect and admire their work.
With the help of other partners, we built Baz-Art, a non-profit organization with the aim of nurturing community building, as well as promoting social transformation and cohesion through art.
BAZ-ART AIMS TO PROVIDE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL TALENT:
By grooming Cape Town as an international art destination.
By supporting emerging artists locally and internationally.
By fostering the global cultural exchange of Artists.
In order for our vision to come to life and to be able to achieve our goals we want to assist in creating jobs & appropriate sustainable businesses – be they coffee shops, tour guides, art galleries etc. – as well as enhancing the appearance and personality of the various neighborhoods we work in so as to increase their pride and sense of belonging.
BAZ-ART WANTS TO ENSURE THAT ART EDUCATION IS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL
Art is a fundamental and powerful educational tool - especially in disadvantaged urban areas where youngsters lack access to art material, experiences and mentorship. Art education is critical to unleash the creative skills and expressions of youngsters, thus providing extra-mural options to compromised youth.
